Standing on God’s Words

As Christians, it is important that in every season, good or bad, we find ourselves in a place where we are standing on God’s words. Standing on God’s words means relying on it, and in order to remember his words, we need to remember them. Oftentimes when the storms of life blow, we often forget everything that God has said and we don’t even remember to go back to the Bible to take a look. We are Christians who read the word daily and pray, but in times of trouble, some of us completely forget God’s words. However, if someone has promised us any amount of money, even if we haven’t seen or spoken to them in a decade, we clearly remember that promise.

God’s Promises

Unlike a human promise, God’s words and promises:

  • Do not have an expiry date: A human can promise you something today, but if God calls them to glory tomorrow or their circumstances drastically change, that promise has expired. There is no expectation that it will happen. However, God’s words will surely come to pass no matter what (Matthew 24:25)
  • Fulfill purpose all the time: Whatever God has said or promised to his children, will always fulfill the mission He has sent it on. God does not speak, just for speaking sake. His words always have a purpose and a mission, and they unfailingly accomplish it (Isaiah 55:11)
  • Always remembered by God: With the billions of people God takes care of on earth, He never forgets  a promise He has made to a single person – even for generations to come. When David had died and his great grandchildren were acting like fools (not following in God’s ways), God preserved them because He remembered his promise to David (1st Kings 15:4)

Study, Study, Study!

Standing on God’s words and having what He has said available to you, especially in times of need, is going to require some studying. We have to read God’s words and do some research. Thank God for Google and the availability of the internet. You can literally search for bible verses about God’s promises and you will get a treasure trove. You can then write them down or find them in your Bible and highlight or bookmark them, so you can reference them from time to time.

Work hard to fill your heart with God’s promises, so that when trials and tribulations come, seasons in life change, temptation arises, and the storms of life blow, they readily come to mind and you do not run the risk of losing your faith or footing. Always remember, stand on God’s words, always, so that nothing throws you off your purposed path and throne.
